The Rumors Surrounding the Newest Land Rover Range Rover

No matter who you are, the Land Rover Range Rover probably comes to mind when someone asks you to name a few iconic SUV and off-road vehicles. The Range Rover has been in production since 1970, and the current 2012 Range Rover line and now encompasses two other models- the 2012 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque and the Land Rover Range Rover Sport. Today's standard Range Rover hasn't received a major facelift since 2002, which means one is on the way soon!
Online auto community/magazine Motor Trend reports seeing the next, refreshed Land Rover Range Rover doing some winter testing recently. The vehicle was first seen roaming the streets of Europe in 2012 (with key redesigns covered, of course). Experts expect the new Rover to arrive sometime in the 2013 or 2014 model years, but we're hoping it's sooner, rather than later.
The new Range Rover is expected to get a massive thousand-pound weight decrease due to a lighter aluminum frame, which should also lead to better fuel economy ratings. The exterior of the Rover should be highly altered, as well, with hints of the Range Rover Evoque and an updated, luxurious interior is also expected. Powertrain choices are likely to remain the same, with one or two trubodiesels expected, as well as supercharged and naturally-aspirated gasoline V-8 engines. A hybrid has also been rumored to appear, so stay tuned for updates about that!
