The Rumors Surrounding the Newest Land Rover Range Rover

No matter who you are, the Land Rover Range Rover probably comes to mind when someone asks you to name a few iconic SUV and off-road vehicles. The Range Rover has been in production since 1970, and the current 2012 Range Rover line and now encompasses two other models- the 2012 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque and the Land Rover Range Rover Sport. Today's standard Range Rover hasn't received a major facelift since 2002, which means one is on the way soon!

Yes, this is the billion dollar question. Why is there legislation waiting in the wings to be voted on, that could cost U.S. taxpayers this much money? Well, fuel-efficiency.

Representative Dan Lungren, a Republican, of California's 3rd Congressional District has proposed a bill that would award the first U.S. domestic car manufacturer that makes 60,000 mid-sized sedans that run completely on gas and get at least a whopping 100 miles to the gallon.

As the legislation reads, hybrids and plug-ins are invalid for the cash prize. Personally, I think this is a great opportunity for car manufacturers, the government, and the U.S.'s occupants in general. The ROI on this billion dollar investment could be incredible. Advancements of this kind of nature could propel U.S. automakers back to the top of the world car market. This could put our people back to work creating innovative products.

The Range Rover Evoque: A New Kind of Sub-Compact

It's hard to begin to describe the 2012 Range Rover Evoque because, frankly, we've never quite seen anything like it before. The Evoque does more than cross boundaries; it creates them. It's a new kind of sub-compact, and it's garnering a lot of attention from automobile enthusiasts and award platforms.

The 2012 Range Rover Evoque may be in its first model year, but that hasn't stopped it from having a huge impact on the rest of the Land Rover lineup. More specifically, the compact SUV is rumored to be the source of inspiration for a new performance-driven sub-brand, which the British automaker is currently considering.

Also influenced by the Jaguar R moniker, the new Land Rover lineup would feature an edgier version of the…

The Lander Rover Defender saw the final days of its U.S. production back in 1997, when safety regulations forced it off the market, but the vehicle lives on in Europe to this very day.
